Flying About

Helmi and Hertta will be leaving tomorrow. Then there are only I-babies left for new homes, and I haven't still yet really decided which ones could be staying, though I might be inclined to find new homes for all of them.

Luckily I have no need to replace any of them if I can't find good homes and that's how it should be too.

Youngsters found their way upstairs yesterday and I've been bringing them down several times. Now I really need to fix it so that they can't get up, because they don't know how to fly down again. I had previously only let them fly in the diningroom/kitchen and now that the other breedingcage is empty, I've taken the veil off the doorway and they've been able to fly around the whole first floor. The doorways are three doors wide and living room is rather big too so there's plenty of space. I can see that they really enjoy fluttering and soaring, making funny little swings and air-acrobatics.

And as mentioned in several places, they don't poop when they fly, but only when they've landed. So it's good a idea to cover the floor under the places they are hanging the most.

Pikkuiset löysivät tien yläkertaan eilen ja olen useita kertoja joutunut hakemaan niitä sieltä. Joten jotain on keksittävä esteeksi. Ne eivät nimittäin löydä itse takaisin - tai haluavatkokaan, koska ihmettelevät vain isoa häkkiä ja sen meteliä. Violetit poikaset ovat näppärämpiä lentäjiä, Frodo on aina ollut hyvä lentäjä ja Lilja parhaimpia lentäjiä meidän naaraslinnuista.

Tilaa alakerrassakin on reilusti, keittiö-ruokailuhuone-olohuone välillä nyt kun toinen pesintähäkki on jo pois käytöstä.

Helmi ja Hertta lähtevät huomenna ja niinpä kotiin jää enää vain vähän vajaa luovutusikäiset violetit poikaset jäljelle. Ilmari näistä on todennäköisin kotiin jäävä, mutta hyvän kodin sattuessa vastaan saattaisin antaa senkin pois. Tilaa näiden on jäädä, ettei sen takia tarvitse murehtia ja kellään ei ole minnekään kiire. Violetit ovat todella rohkeita ja ennakkoluulottomia, mutta herkkiä reagoimaan kaikkeen mahdollisesti uhkaavaan, eli lentoon pyrähdys on ensimmäinen reaktio. Ne syövät kuitenkin kädestä ja tarjotulta lautaselta yhtä reippaasti tai jopa reippaammin kuin H-pesueen ipanat.

Helmi on kenties kaikkein ärhäkin näistä poikasista. Se on kuitenkin muodostanut kaveriparin Hertan kanssa, onneksi, muutoin miettisin kenties kuviota uudestaan. Nahistelevat naaraat eivät ole hauska yhdistelmä.
